Look, it's Van Morrison okay. What am I going to tell you that might possibly deter you from buying this if you're determined or suckered to do so? Just browse the set list below and even if you only appreciate a third of it, that's 99% more of what you'll confess to liking by 98% of today's turgidly defined musical geniuses.

So loosen your tie, let your hair down, and let's have some fun with this while we have this time together. Let's try to define what exactly defines a greatest hit or career spanning best of (as this latest, just-before-Christmas release bills itself). This, and the 1990 Greatest Hits, Volume 1 set share many of the same songs. Cleaning Windows (a certified hit if my hazy recollection isn't failing me) isn't on Still The One, but an alternate version of The Healing Game is. What happened? What changed? Did Van have a mood swing? Has he nothing left to say (as evidenced by Pay The Devil) and is just bulking up his retirement plan with a cash grab compilation? Did Bush veto this too?

Ahh, marketing. I should have stayed in college.

ps: Also available as a less than stellar, three CD set if you really, really, really want the best of. For the time being, anyway.
